I bought this to keep the birds from eating the cherries off my trees. It totally works. I actually think this year I might get to eat my own cherries. I know it is working because in the last 8 years I have owned my cherry trees, I have never had the chance to see the cherries slowly turn red. This is the first year that they are aren't being eaten and I can actually watch them turn red! Amazing!

The challenging part for me was mounting this owl in a place that could be seen by the birds, in the middle of an orchard, but also not too close to the street that somebody would steal it (so I couldn't use my fence). I ended up getting a wood stump and placing in the middle of the orchard and screwing it down. I'd move the stump around every other week. The wind sail works very well to move the head, keeps it realistic. The sail is stored in the bottom compartment which can be filled with sand for extra weight if needed.

It is outdoors everyday in the Southwest and thus far for the last 3 weeks, the color has not shown any sign of fading. The plastic isn't getting brittle yet. The true test is if I can get a second use (or even better a third use) out of it next season. I'll have to let you know how that turns out in an update in the future.

If you are tired of sharing your crop with nature and actually want to taste your own cherries, I recommend having this as one of your strategies to deter little birds.

Beautiful owls I bought two no more squirrels in my vegetable garden. Let’s see how long it will keep the squirrels away. Highly recommend

Working great so far, use to have tons of birds poopping on my son's swing set inside and out so it was always to messy to use and I felt bad he couldn't ever play on it without having to clean it all the time. I got this and I haven't seen any more bird poop since I installed it. I'd say that means it's working so no complaints here.

Got this because there were 2 hawks circling my back yard when I would take my puppy out to play. First day I put this owl out, on the deck, hawk swooped low and saw it, never came back. Head swerves in the wind, and you should rotate the owl daily, put it in different places, to fool birds, etc.

Bought this owl to put on deck to scare birds who kept flying into our windows. Have had it up a week and so far so good. Even startled us when looking through window til we remember it is fake. It is always windy where we live, so having the head move is no problem. We did screw it down to a board and clamped it onto the rail so we can easily change locations. May order another for a different spot outside!
